How to help

If you'd like to support the work that we do, you can help in the following ways.

Donate

We aim to keep our workshop as accessible as possible, and are grateful for any contributions that help us keep costs low for participants. You can donate online through the button below or mail a cheque to: Toronto Creative Music Lab -17 Dynevor Road, Toronto ON M6W 3E7. Unfortunately, at this time we cannot offer a charitable tax credit receipt.

Volunteer time or resources

The TCML team is comprised entirely of volunteers; we also rely on contributions from our community to help facilitate our programming.

  • Volunteer! Help in the kitchen or at concerts during TCML 2019

  • Give resources! Provide food and kitchen supplies, or high-end music and audio equipment

Are there other ways you can support TCML? Contact info.tcmlab@gmail.com about the contributions that you would like to make.

Buy the TCML 2017 & 2018 albums

TCML has released two digital albums, featuring works by our 2017 and 2018 participants, on bandcamp.com. By purchasing an album, you support TCML operating costs that keep participant fees low. In 2019, TCML will endeavour to use this revenue to support specific accessibility costs—such as child care—in order to reduce barriers to artist participation.

Testimonials

“Every player and composer I worked with was amazing in many ways. All great listeners, incredible players, open to different viewpoints and also contributed their own ideas to the rehearsal process.” TCML 2018 Participant Evaluation

“I’m planning to collaborate with some of the TCML composers again, I love all of their work! And I hope to travel and perform in different cities with other TCML performers. Thank you for an inspiring and amazing week!” TCML 2018 Participant Evaluation

“The food was great! I loved the variety in the food and the fact that there were options for every dietary need. And all the food was fresh!” TCML 2018 Participant Evaluation

"[TCML] gave me the chance to collaborate with composers, get feedback, gain new insight.”  Grace, performer in 2016 and 2017

"It forced me out of my comfort zone. I otherwise wouldn’t have had such a push to try new things.”  Jossée, performer in 2016 and 2017

"I appreciated the focus on accessibility and the creation of discussion around topics that don’t typically come up in an art music context...I had the opportunity to revisit past practices in chamber music performance and work with some really wonderful musicians and composers."  Melody, 2016 panelist and performer

"During a time when the usual music scene is taking a breather, this program is just the thing to fill in some of the gaps, and build potentially fruitful musical relationships."  The WholeNote magazine, 2016
